Amy Nichols for a Cheerful Clackamas County!
Amy for Clackamas County Commissioner – Position 3
Self-made, Community-driven
An Enthusiastic Approach to Community
I’ve owned and operated the Cheerful Tortoise since 2008, after working my way up as a server in 1999. Having survived COVID shutdowns as a restaurant owner in downtown Portland, I want to make sure our community leads the way towards freedom, enterprise and triumph. Our comeback as a community is going to be driven by those who are cheerfully willing to get up early and stay late to do the work to keep Clackamas County sensational!
How I’ll serve Clackamas
Always do what’s right.
Be frugal with tax dollars.
Stand with citizens.
Be constantly accessible.
Relentless Dedication
I started working on my dad’s fuel dock at 9 years old, working up to a deckhand on an Alaskan charter boat for two summers starting when I was 14. It’s a work ethic that’s followed me everywhere. I’m energized by the grind, and want to bring a fresh enthusiasm and motivation to the County Commission. I want to find creative, affordable solutions that let our citizens live their best lives in a safe environment that lets everyone thrive.

An inspired vision
I care what our kids are going to say in 10 years about our home.
A Secure and peaceful Clackamas County
We’ve done a good job keeping up on violent crime in the county, but we need to do more to support our police officers and prosecutors when it comes our dilemma of dependency, homelessness and property crime. Causing low level offenders to clean-up graffiti or homeless encampments seems like a common sense outcome that we should be able to implement to keep our county beautiful.
Free and easy highway travel
Tolls don’t belong in Clackamas County. Especially when they’re being pushed by west-side legislators to fund projects in their counties. I stand in solidarity with our citizens to support any mechanism at our disposal to shutter those Abernethy Bridge toll booths before they’re built.
Safeguard seniors from rising taxes
I’ll hold the line to keep costs down for seniors and families feeling the pinch of property taxes. Fixed incomes and skyrocketing taxes and fees just don’t mix. I’d like to explore programs to freeze property taxes for seniors to keep them in their homes.
We Need Your Support to Make Change
Your donation to my campaign will help us bring positive change to Clackamas County. Together, we can tackle the rising crime, tolls on our interstates, skyrocketing property taxes, and the need for a new approach to addiction and homelessness, all while giving a voice back to YOU, the residents.
